What are the clubs?

The Club Process

STEP 1: REGISTRATION

Registering your student for the clubs will place them in the Young Astronauts (3rd-5th grade) or Voyagers clubs (6th-9th grade). Students must be enrolled at Renaissance Academy to join these clubs, and also must be in 3rd-9th grades.

Registration is $150 and includes (8) 2-hour rotations in the club, a club t-shirt, and memories to last a lifetime!

STEP 2: PLACEMENTS

After Registration is received, the club members are placed into "Squadrons". Each squadron meets for 2 hours after school on a day you selected during registration.

We communicate placements, dates and times, etc. via email So please be sure to pay attention to your inbox.

Rotations start the last week of August.

STEP 3: ROTATIONS

Each rotation is 2 hours long. Classroom sessions (science, cosmology, math) are included within the context of the mission.

Each rotation continues the story we are telling, and provides opportunities for problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills to be polished.

STEP 4: COMPETITION

Each squadron is competing against other squadrons.

Points are granted based on following objectives given to them, and self-starter style tasks that are available in the mission as well.

It's a blast for everyone!

WHAT DAYS DO THE CLUBS MEET?

Clubs meet on a day and time you select from a list options. They will meet for (8) 2-hour rotations throughout the school year (and potentially into that first week of summer).

Rotations will happen between 3:30-5:30 PM M-Th, and from 12:45-2:45 PM on Fridays.

WHERE DOES THE CLUB MEET?

The club meets in Mr. Williamson's room to start each rotation.

AM I GUARANTEED ONE OF MY SELECTED DAYS?

The short answer? No. We do our very best to get you on one of those two days - but there are many factors that determine day and time, mainly being how many other students sign up in that grade for that day and time. However, we, as mentioned before, do our best to place you in your selected times. Refunds are available if needed.

WHAT ACTIVITIES COME WITH THE ROTATIONS?

Activities include problem-solving, leadership, communication, and teamwork skills in every rotation.

Each rotation will have story points and objectives to complete for the crew, and their points will be based off of their ability to do this.

For the first time ever we are allowing grade-mixing (within 2 levels) for our squadrons.

DO YOU TAKE SPECIAL REQUESTS?

We do! Email Bracken at Director@TheSpacePlace.org in order to make a request. We do our best to grant these requests, but they are not guaranteed.

These requests can be day/time shifts, wanting to be with friends, etc.
